ETHOS Health Communications – Interactive iPad® Meeting App
This exceptional interactive peer-to-peer (P2P) iPad meeting app and deep learning tool won DDA its second Tabby Award for Best Healthcare and Pharmaceutical App of 2014.
ETHOS Health Communications is a healthcare communications firm with an emphasis on the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. They needed to find a way to create a new type of meeting, an environment that would foster greater opportunities to gather information for the audience member and the speaker. ETHOS came to DDA with this challenge, and, as a leader in innovative software development delivered over any platform, DDA brought its unique set of expertise and technical skills to the table. Through a detailed discussion of the type of presentation desired for the attendee and the supplemental tools needed to enhance the experience, DDA created the ETHOS Engage Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Deep Learning Tool, a customized piece of software specifically designed for ETHOS and its ongoing presentation program. This groundbreaking meeting platform and app are designed to encourage interactivity and enable presenters to customize the information for each type of audience.
A number of important goals needed to be met for the custom learning platform. First, all software associated with the meeting needed to be transparent and intuitively natural. Because the Apple iPad® platform has become so widely popular, and the platform DDA and ETHOS agreed would be the most likely device for physicians to use, the goal was to take full advantage of the iPad’s high resolution capabilities and easy-to-use interface.
The next goal was to make the meeting a richly interactive experience that would allow presenter to annotate their visual material in real time, engage audience with prompted questions, and provide access to relevant papers and references during the presentation. An interactive question and answer feature would allow the presenter to ask questions and receive answers from the audience in real time with easy and trouble-free interface navigation. Information gathering needed to be efficient, especially for large groups, where a large collection of comments and answers could be quickly gathered and collated. Finally, the results also needed to be saved for an extensive post-meeting analysis to determine the effectiveness of the meeting and establish guidelines for future presentations.
The ETHOS Engage Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Deep Learning Tool combines the advanced information delivery features of the modern tablet technology with information gathering capability for meetings that are more rewarding for presenters and their audience. Enhanced participant involvement and engagement make the meeting experience more substantive and stimulating, with more robust peer-to-peer interaction. Through screen mirroring and reference linking, audience members have full access to presentation resources and can review them at their own pace and provide annotations during the meeting. Post presentation data collection with superior analytical tools enables presenters to capture all audience notes, comments and responses to the material. With this powerful new tool, presenters can get better data from their presentations, and prepare more relevant and detailed presentations in the future.
This type of project requires innovation through the entire process, from software development to device troubleshooting. In order to make the experience as trouble free as possible, all varying factors must be minimized and accommodated. Varying levels of skill, locations with limited internet access, and even small device differences were resolved. Associated orientation material like user guides for ETHOS and their clients, an introductory video, and in-app help tools were also created to ensure that the ETHOS Engage Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Deep Learning Tool would take the modern meeting and add significant value for everyone.
It takes familiarity with the target audience and a great deal of technical skill and extensive testing to perfect the experience DDA and ETHOS envisioned. While many attempt to create innovations in meeting and presentation applications, DDA has learned through experience that it takes dedication to the final goal, perseverance and ingenuity in the development phase, and resourcefulness in the implementation to achieve success. As a piece of fully tested top-notch meeting software with lasting value, the ETHOS Engage Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Deep Learning Tool takes ETHOS to the next level and seals their reputation as one of the leaders in the healthcare communications industry. DDA was awarded with its second Tabby Award for the Best Healthcare and Pharmaceutical App of 2014 for its work on the ETHOS Engage Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Deep Learning Tool.
