Atlantic Gasket Corporation puts its high-quality gaskets front and center on the world wide web with this innovative, search engine optimized responsive website design by DDA.
DDA designed the original Atlantic Gasket Corporation website in 2006. While the graphic design of the website was still quite contemporary looking for a 10-year old website (quite an achievement in an industry that develops with exceptional rapidity), it was designed primarily for desktops and laptops. Furthermore, much of the information conveyed by the website needed to be updated. Additionally, while the website did have quite substantial search engine optimization value, featuring well over 200 pages (a substantial portion of which were written by DDA's own professional copywriters), since it was designed primarily for desktops and laptops, it would be increasingly demerited by Google for those searching from mobile devices. With approximately half of all online searches now taking place on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, and with Google promising to steadily decrease the rankings of non-mobile-optimized websites for mobile online searches, Atlantic Gasket decided it was time to overhaul the new website to both update the aesthetics and information as well as to keep up with the latest SEO industry trends and keep the site competitive.
DDA's SEO experts recommended that Atlantic Gasket pursue a new responsive website design, which automatically scales up and down as well as changes the presentation of elements on the page depending on the device/screen size viewing the website. Since Google will also be factoring in security in its search engine algorithms, the new website would be hosted on a secure HTTPS-encrypted URL. The client sought a different approach to the design, wanting a clean and uncluttered presentation of the textual information combined with innovative menus that facilitate effortless navigation. Furthermore, top-page design elements would feature DDA's own product photography of their gaskets. The new site would also feature a blog to allow the client to add content on their own over time, as well as a conversion of all technical sheets from PDF to HTML format for better presentation, and thus deeper exposure, to online searchers.
DDA developed a unique customized website design for Atlantic Gasket that had a utility and main menu permanently anchored to the top of the site, along with a secondary menu to the side that allows users to easily move from one page or section to the next within any of the main menu categories. Both the main and side menus feature animation upon rollover, giving the site a completely unique look and feel that helps to differentiate Atlantic Gasket from its competitors. The banners on the home and inner pages both feature wide shots of a collage of the company's gaskets in the background. The homepage banner brings three large gaskets right up front as menu items, combining form and functionality by centering the site design upon that which Atlantic Gasket does best.
As much of the site's established content needed to be updated, DDA's professional SEO copywriters provided expert guidance on how to execute strong SEO copy so that the client could ensure that the new content he provided would be ranked well on Google and other major search engines. DDA also programmed a new blog system for the site and uploaded the client's initial blogs, consulting the client on best practices in the population and management of an SEO blog going forward. The client expanded the site content considerably with updates, including separating information on various product lines into what were initially presented together in spec sheets found on the original website. All spec sheets formerly available as PDF were converted to HTML pages for additional SEO content value. Finally, graphs found throughout the site were converted into a format that allowed them to present at appropriate sizes depending on the screen size of the device viewing the site.
Steve Gordon of Atlantic Gasket was incredibly impressed with the new website, demonstrating his excitement verbally throughout the design and development process as he offered feedback throughout the various stages. The new site advances Atlantic Gasket Corporation's search engine marketing impact and demonstrates an online presence that reflects the exceptional quality that the company's customers can expect. DDA received particularly high praise for its efforts as the site was approved for launch at the end of the project: "Thanks for all of your help and we are looking forward to going live in the morning. The site looks awesome! You and your team did a great job and have a lot to be proud of. Thanks for all of the hard work that everyone put into this project."
