ACI – Responsive CME Website with CMS and eCommerce
With this comprehensive online CME platform with CMS and eCommerce features, ACI allows healthcare providers and others maintain the medical skills and certifications they need.
Advanced Certification Institute (ACI) came to DDA with a unique opportunity to develop a new online medical training certification program and implement it with all of the competitive marketing tools DDA has to offer. ACI is the brainchild of an entrepreneurial anesthesiologist who recognized the demand healthcare and other professions for personnel specifically trained in different levels of life support procedures such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). With wide experience in the development of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and online eLearning applications of all kinds, DDA had the diverse set of skills to bring this new learning, training, and certification program online. To be a success, the program needed to be delivered accurately and cost-effectively, both in the initial launch and in the ongoing maintenance of the system. ACI’s principle challenge was to deliver high value content at a low price and to ensure the security and reliability of its online certification process.
For the site to perform well in the marketplace, DDA had to focus on a range of innovative and unique features. The primary objectives were to enhance the material and the educational experience, distinguish the program from its competitors, and to readily facilitate the payment, participation, and certification process for multiple courses on a single platform with different, and often complex payment options. Summaries for the key points behind each course of study offered on the platform orient the user and reveal the breadth of the eLearning program. A comprehensive eCommerce system facilitates multiple purchases of courses. Clients may apply special discounts to all initial subscribers. Allowing individuals to purchase multiples of each course on behalf of a group opens more opportunities for certification programs to be widely implemented throughout a given organization.
By providing free online access to ACI’s Basic Life Support certification with each purchase of either ACLS or PALS certification program, the ACI CME platform makes it easier for the many clinicians who are required to maintain both certifications simultaneously to both acquire and maintain them economically, and in a synchronized, regularly timed schedule.
DDA’s background and extensive experience with complex database management and the viability of long term information infrastructure led them to build a robust Content Management System (CMS) for ACI’s developing certification program. Because ACI anticipates the scaling and range of the certification programs to increase over time, it is critical to take this incremental, and sometimes significant, growth into account prior to any investment in a new management system. To update and maintain it, offer limited time discounts and add other features, the system can grow and respond effectively to constantly changing requirements.
DDA is a leader in the implementation of the most current responsive website design standards. A responsive website design also ensures maximum flexibility, and allows users of any device to get full access to the program. DDA focused on a responsive website design to implement the CMS on the backend to upload new course content and associated resources. The comprehensive information on what the medical eLearning platform has to offer, the click-through links to purchase certifications from every page, and the certification verification feature established the content and functionality for their customers. The overall strong design and effortless navigation, combined with DDA’s development of the tagline featured prominently on the homepage, gives ACI the market presence and ease of use necessary for the success of this type of specialized internet education.
Each eLearning course is based on the most current American Heart Association's Standards and Guidelines, and each course is divided into scores of sections. During their review of these study materials, users can sign out and return to where they had left off at any time.
A full index of the sections of the Study Guide provides specific topics of interest, and a Resource Center is included with every course. Images, documents, and spreadsheets specific to that section's topics provide a full range of educational support resources.
Users proceed to the testing section after a full review of the material. The correct answers to a predefined percentage of multiple choice questions determine the score. When a user makes an incorrect choice on the test, DDA has programmed a reference link back to the specific section in the Study Guide to explain the material further. Trainees receive one more opportunity to answer the question correctly. After the answers are finalized, more information on the subject is provided. Users can take the test as often as required until they receive a passing grade.
Immediately upon the completion of a test, users receive their score. A personalized certification card with their own individualized certification code is provided online.
DDA programmed a public certification verification feature that verifies an individual’s certification claim. Users can download, print, or purchase a hard copy of their certification card at any time upon successful completion of the test. Certification maintenance is another key feature DDA has incorporated into ACI’s program. To remind users when their certifications are about to expire, automatic email notices are distributed to all of those clients who completed their certifications with ACI so that they can ensure no lapse in their accreditation. All purchases, including hard copies of the certification cards, are handled by the administrative area, and administrators can review 11 fields of metrics on user performance in addition to date, range, and the group or individual that paid for the certification.
Prospective trainees have immediate access to purchase a module of their choice from any public webpage and start training immediately. Users access their account page upon signup, with additional information about any other modules they would like to pursue for themselves or modules for a group of individuals to establish group certification programs. Purchases can be made immediately from any public facing website pages to facilitate group participation.
Launched in early 2015, the final platform was tested by a large team of nurses, who responded with enthusiasm to the innovative medical eLearning platform ACI and DDA had put together. Upon ACI's thorough review, DDA's work was highly commended. Administrators appreciate the easy scalability offered by the Content Management System (CMS) and the ease of use responsive web design provides. Prospective clients have begun to see the exceptional value at which courses are offered, and ACI has recently surpassed 1,000 individual certification sales in its first year since launch.
As a follow-up to the implementation of the online medical training certification program, ACI decided to employ DDA’s expertise with Pay-per-Click Google AdWords campaigns. DDA’s comprehensive search engine marketing skills establish the online ad campaign, streamline its performance, and assure its success. DDA even developed a tagline to help drive ACI's value proposition: "Save Time, Save Money, Save Lives," which serves as a key value proposition in much of the ad copy it developed for ACI's AdWords Pay-per-Click campaign. DDA's management of the ACI AdWords Pay-per-Click campaign has largely been responsible for driving certification sales through the eLearning platform, demonstrating the comprehensive and coordinated nature of the services that DDA offers to all of its clients.
